I remember at the beginning of this course, Dr. Foley advised us to be careful with what we put out in social media. That did nothing to calm my anxiety with having to put myself out there. Though admittedly, I must say the journey is quite like riding a bike or driving a car. The first few lessons are rocky but once you get a handle on it, overtime you learn to manoeuvre. That being said, not all of us are safe drivers. Some of us like the adrenaline of speeding, the ‘feel rude’ vibe of escaping a traffic ticket or parking in a NO-PARKING zone. We don’t all travel along the highway of social media at the same speed, in the same model vehicles and heading in the same direction. That’s just the nature of the social-spere. It’s a fluid and very dynamic space with all kinds of idenities. It can be an intriguing world, yet a dark place, frightening, yet safe. Who are you in this world?
I thought about Julian Assange, the most notorious. I’ll describe him further but ask your thoughts on his affect or effect on social media. Has be revolutionized social media in anyway? Is he a victim of social media truths or is the villian? Just a valiant guy maybe?
